What Is a CIMT Test?
CIMT stands for Carotid Intima-Media Thickness — a non-invasive ultrasound measurement of the inner lining of your carotid arteries. It's one of the earliest detectable markers of cardiovascular disease, often visible years before any symptoms appear.
Doctors, cardiologists, and longevity experts increasingly recommend CIMT as a baseline screening. It measures what blood work alone can't see: the actual condition of your artery walls. Two people with identical cholesterol numbers can have very different CIMT results.
CIMT screening can detect:
