Your Stomach's Been Off for Weeks. Here's When to Stop Googling and Get an Ultrasound.

You know the feeling.

Something’s not right in there. Maybe it’s been weeks. Maybe it’s been months. A heaviness after you eat. Pain on your left side that comes and goes. Bloating that won’t quit no matter what you cut out of your diet.

So you do what everybody does. You Google it.

And now you’ve got a browser full of tabs about diverticulitis, IBS, hiatal hernias, and — somewhere around 2 a.m. — “7 signs your liver is dying.”

I’m not judging. We’ve all been there.

Here’s the thing about Googling abdominal symptoms: you’ll always find something scary. Not because something is definitely wrong — but because the internet is very good at showing you the worst-case version of whatever you type in.

What Google can’t do is actually look inside your abdomen and tell you what’s there.

An ultrasound can.

What an abdominal ultrasound actually sees

When we do an abdominal complete ultrasound, we’re scanning the organs most likely responsible for what you’ve been feeling — liver, gallbladder, kidneys, spleen, pancreas, and the aorta.

We’re looking for things like:

  • Gallstones — one of the most common causes of right-sided abdominal pain and that miserable discomfort after a fatty meal
  • Fatty liver disease — increasingly common, usually no symptoms until it’s already progressed
  • Kidney stones or cysts — often the real culprit behind flank pain people chalk up to a pulled muscle
  • Enlarged spleen or liver — can point to inflammation, infection, or something worth a closer look
  • Aortic changes — less common, but exactly the kind of thing worth catching early

What we can’t see on ultrasound: IBS, diverticulitis, hiatal hernias, appendicitis. Those require different imaging — CT, scope, or a clinical exam. Ultrasound isn’t the right tool for every answer.

I’d rather tell you that upfront than have you come in expecting something we can’t deliver.

But here’s what I’ve watched happen more times than I can count: someone comes in convinced their pain is IBS. We find gallstones. Or a cyst on the kidney they didn’t know was there. Or early fatty liver disease. Or a partially blocked bile duct that explained everything.

Symptoms are your body raising its hand. They rarely map neatly to a single diagnosis. An abdominal ultrasound doesn’t replace a full workup — but it puts real information in the room in a way that a Google search never will.

You don’t need a referral. You don’t need to wait.

This is the part most people in Las Vegas don’t know.

You can self-refer for an abdominal ultrasound. No doctor’s order. No insurance battle. No three-week wait for an appointment that may or may not get covered.

You book online, come in, and leave the same day. Your physician-interpreted report lands in your inbox within 2 business days — plain language, no medical decoder ring required. Something you can hand to your doctor and actually have a real conversation from.

Our abdominal complete ultrasound is $250. It covers all six organs. Cash pay, no insurance needed, no referral required.

If your doctor has been ordering bloodwork but hasn’t sent you for imaging yet — or if you’ve been sitting on a referral that keeps getting pushed — this is how you stop waiting and start knowing.

We’re in Summerlin, right off Tenaya Way. Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

If your gut’s been trying to tell you something, it might be time to actually listen.

An abdominal ultrasound is a screening and diagnostic tool — it does not replace a full physician evaluation or treatment plan. If you are experiencing severe or acute abdominal pain, please seek emergency care immediately.
